day sixty-three, a first. { project 365 }

See that black spec up there on the road? That's a hardcore Minnesota grandma using a walker to make her way up this street.. which happens to be a hill. Covered in 2" of ice and snow. Yeah.

Today was Olive's first day at Willow Preschool. :) She's going to go once a week, on Tuesdays.
I thought: What a great opportunity for today's photo a day photo.. a nice one of Olive, right in front of the house. I didn't have time when we arrived (see ice and snow above.. travel times are dumb) so I had to try afterwards. I was like "hey Olive, today is special, can I take your photo?" and she was all like "no". So I didn't really try.

Until she thought maybe a photo of her throwing snow would be cool. This was after she threw some snow at June's head. Whoops.

And then she was like "hey wouldn't it be funny if I threw snow at your camera?" and then she threw snow at me. And then she was like "throw snow at me! throw snow at me!" and I was like "um no." (I didn't have gloves on and I had already plopped sad June in the car (sad for reasons that didn't include the snow throwing.. I think he enjoyed that).

day sixty-two, lazy day. { project 365 }
June napped a million times today. I hope he sleeps well tonight. During one of his rare waking moments we all hung out on the bed together.

Yep.

Wide eyed baby June.

He's really excitable. I think he's going to be hilarious when he starts to giggle. He's almost there. It's like his giggles are stuck in his throat.. ready to bubble out.

He's also observant.

Can I be jealous of Olive's hair? I am.

day sixty-one, drive by. { project 365 }
I had an unusual amount of options for today's photo. I picked this one that I snapped quickly on my drive home from a session. Despite it not having snowed for quite a few days our streets are still covered in snow and ice. Even main streets. Even little bits of the highways. Thick slipper ice.
But the white covered streets add a certain peaceful element.. when you're not slipping around on them. Big piles of snow, the sun still hanging low to the south. It's March, but it sure doesn't feel like it.
This big RV is a new addition to our block.

There is a photo project I would love to do before the snow is gone. But I can't really figure out how to have the time to do it. Fingers crossed we'll get another big snow and I can get some time out alone with my camera. It's a good idea.

day sixty, intrigue. { project 365 }
I can't find my photo from Friday. I can't even remember what I photographed on Friday. Whoops.
For most of today Olive said things like:
"hey painter!"
"Gilbert, what are you doing, Gilbert?"
"there is paint over here."
"oh, yeah, yeah."
We had our hallway/stairs area painted. It's not a horrible task, we've done so much painting already, but it's gone unpainted for so long.. I just thought I would reach out to anyone who may want to trade photos for painting just to get it done. And so it's done. And this way I didn't have to figure out how to get all the way up high above the stairs. Though the ceiling still needs to be painted...
Anywho.. Gilbert came over and Olive talked and talked and talked and talked.
His sister dropped him off and came inside and Olive was like:
"I have an idea! YOU (pointing to Gilbert's sister) can play with me. And YOU (pointing to Gilbert) can go paint upstairs!"
And then they went upstairs to look around. So Olive grabbed a stool and brought it upstairs and was like:
"Well, painter, there is a little bit of white over here, and some yellow paint here. Oh, and brown paint over here."
And then she gave him a piece of brownie.

day fifty-eight, baking. { project 365 }
Yesterday was an annoying day.
Today was headed in the same direction. More quickly than yesterday. (I blame this never ending absurdly cold stupid stupid stupid winter)
So we made brownies. Because that fixes everything, no?
I ask you to, please, not pass judgement on my kitchen.
And then we went to an indoor playground when Tyler got home. I didn't take photos. Because.
We were supposed to go last Thursday on Olive's birthday but: Giant Snow Storm.
Not going today was discussed because: Stupid Cold Temperature.
But it had to happen. And so it did.

day fifty-five, blur. { project 365 }
I have more photos from this to work on and post but my computer is crawling... so I was only able to get one done. The most complicated one. I'm relatively inexperienced with Photoshop, save for making band fliers like 10 years ago. So this took longer than it should have and probably could have been done in a much easier way. But oh well. Serves it's purpose.
Olive had a great time. I love documenting her.

day fifty-four, frames. { project 365 }
Tyler claims that today he just added about $1,000 to the value of our home. Is that a compliment to my photography?

I've had these prints sitting around since a show and just rearranged my office.. thought I would hang them up since this new configuration left me with so much wall space. They don't seem level because the hangers in back aren't equal on each frame - I'll fix that soon. And I'll be changing the prints.. currently they're all north Minneapolis related but I'm going to print and hang some of my favorites from the past year.
Today we went to church. And then to the Pancake House (Not to be confused with THE Pancake House). But I forgot my camera. Because.

day fifty-two, SNOW. { project 365 }
It snowed.
Shocking, I know.
I went outside to shovel as soon as I was able to get June to fall asleep. Tyler moves snow allllll the time at work so I try to help out at home when I can. Last year I was much more useful in this way. June makes it more difficult.
At one point while I was outside I ran back up to the door to listen for June, to see if he was awake. A soon as I opened the door I found Olive with her coat on, her boots on the wrong feet (which she can never manage to put on her feet when I ask her to.. hmmmm...) and mismatched mittens. She wanted to shovel.
She was quite upset when I said I couldn't get her shovel. She left it on the ground in the backyard two days prior and the million inches of snow we got covered it up and I didn't feel like digging. So I offered her her broom.

day fifty-one, happy birthday { project 365 }
This year's birthday was far less photogenic than last year's. The weather kind of ruined a few of our plans. :( But Olive is still three.. so I guess the birthday still worked.
It was supposed to be a snowy snowy day.

Which I suppose was fitting since it snowed a bunch the day that she was born.

I tried dragging the shutter in a few different ways to show you how much and how quickly it was snowing.

We didn't go to story time. :( It's been a few weeks and I really really wanted to take her on her birthday but with the snow on the way Tyler would get home much much more quickly from work if he had the car.
But, as it turns out, the snow would foil our afternoon plans as well, so Tyler hurrying home from work was less important. But still important.

We he got home Olive was sitting in the corner painting a birthday gift for someone else.

Eventually Brooke and Scott came to celebrate with us.

Olive was really excited about something. But I'm tired.. I can't remember.

Meadow looks so small.

June looks serious.. as usual.

Cake time!!

Olive pretty quickly asked for Brook's help to blow out her candles. But she did a great job trying on her own.

That last candle almost seemed like a trick candle. Then it was time for presents as it was already past her bedtime. But... birthdaaaaaayyy so who caaaarrreessssss.

Olive was strangely excited for this polkadot shirt. She was like.. gasp!! "It's what I've always wanted! Thank you so much!!"

She opened a ton of clothes. I figured I would gift her all of the 3T clothes that I've been buying. Make it more exciting to open things on her birthday and then she isn't randomly getting new things all the time.

Woah.. stretch pants..

Meadow ate basically all of the wrapping paper.

Tyler was excited for this book. This has been quite the book filled Christmas and birthday season.

Great expressions.

June and Scott are pretty comfortable.

And then it was bedtime. A sad sad bedtime.

Hi June.

I guess Scott was talking about something that was "this" big.. maybe?

And then it was time for Meadow to go home. Meadow and June both stay up really late when they come over to our house.

And I'll leave you with this:

Next week we hope to do the fun evening plan that we had hoped to do for her birthday. Fingers crossed.
This reminds me I still need to post Scott's birthday photos. And a 3 year post for Olive.
