I have been looking forward to this wedding for a while. Of course I will photograph anyone's wedding, whatever the style of theme, but I have to admit that I get a little excited about the weddings that promise to be creative and unique. This wedding was certainly one of those and I couldn't wait to see how all of the details came together.
I met the bride and groom at their home and photographed the family getting prepared.
I really loved the flowers in this wedding. If I had a do-over the flowers might look something like this. Wonderful texture. And the little fabric bows match the kilts that you'll see later.
I had heard about the bride's custom dress and was excited to see how it all came together.
The tying process was long.. I documented it well. :)
The ceremony location was in a local park just minutes from their home. I headed over and spent some time with the bride's wonderful sons.
This was their first kilt experience.
The setting was just perfect for the this bride.
Unfortunately the wacky weather this season showed it's presence during this wedding. The couple still went ahead with plans for an outdoor wedding, despite it raining basically every single day, and set up a little tent, just in case.
A great twist on the unity sand thing - each member of the family had their own color to contribute.
After the sand the boys read quotes about the groom and he presented each of them with a wooden sword that he crafted himself. They were excited. :)
The most unique ring presentation I've ever seen. I had a great time going in for shots of this. He also presented his bride with this sword!
And then the rain came. The ceremony was almost complete at this point but the couple headed under the tent and the very prepared guests pulled out their colorful umbrellas.
I always say that I love the unpredictable things that come up before or during ceremonies - they keep people on their toes and add unique memories to the day. Some may see the rain as inconvenience but this couple and their guests handled it so well and had a great time with it. It won't soon be forgotten.
After a bit of a drive everyone ended up at a friend's property where the reception took place. It was slatted to be an outdoor affair but the air had cooled down quite a bit so everything was hastily moved inside. It was a tight fit but they did it well.
The overcast, just after the rain, skies made for wonderful portrait lighting.
The groom crafted his own wooden ring.
There were so many wonderful spots for me to capture the beauty of the rings and flowers.
I loved that the same textured flowers were found on the cake. A great addition to a simple yet elegant cake.
The bride and groom did a gender reveal when cutting their cake. This mama of three boys is expecting a daughter any day now! :)
Congratulations Christi & Steve! :)
