On Thursday I had a somewhat last minute session. I was contacted about doing a family session at a playground and had high hopes we could squeeze it in before I'm off for a few weeks with new baby stuff. We were ready to go on more than one occasion but the unpredictable fall weather kept squashing our plans. It was even snowing last weekend when we thought we would play things by ear and be ready to head out to a park at moment's notice...
Thankfully our plans to meet Thursday afternoon correlated decently with the weather. It could have been warmer but the weather is likely only going to get worse from here.. so we did it!
It was great to meet this lovely family. I especially always enjoy sessions with a child very close in age to Olive.. the little guy you'll see below turns three in January, just a month before Olive does.
It was a little chilly and this blue hat was adorable.. but she preferred to carry it around, of course!
His first trip down the slide was the single slowest sliding experience I have ever seen. Which couldn't have been all that fun... but it sure did make photographing the sliding so much easier than a fast slide! After a few trips down the slide it seemed to speed up a bit.. to his enjoyment. :)
I really enjoy relaxed lifestyle themed sessions. We were planning to squeeze in a few posed group shots but the majority of the session was meant for me to capture and observe these four being a lovely family and having a great time at the park together. It really cuts down on the pressure on everyone involved!
If you have a wagon, small children, and you're going to have a photo session - I do highly suggest you bring your wagon along.. it's a fun and cute way to contain busy kids. :) Even if only for a few minutes! And it can help squeeze two siblings together who maybe wouldn't otherwise be so close.
Having a destination when riding in the wagon is always a plus. Train tracks!
Again.. why not snap a photo of mom and dad without the kids. :)
I am so pleased that we stepped away from this session with more than one successful group shot. This little guy was a busy one and every time I snapped about two photos of the four of them together he would come darting at me, past me, and away!
Thankfully she can't get anywhere too fast quite yet. ;)
